Weizenmühle
Weizenmühle stands in Dresden’s Plaunscher Grund beside the Weißeritz River, among ruins shaped by the city’s industrial past. A thirty-metre silo tower rises above the former mill site.
Built in 1917, the tower belonged to König Friedrich August Mühlenwerke AG and supported grain processing. After the Second World War, Dölzschner Mühlenwerke AG and later VEB Getreidewirtschaft Dresden used the complex. Operations ended in 1990, leaving the buildings unused and in a state of disrepair.
Jugendstil lettering still marks the architecture, while the surrounding Plaunscher Grund ranks among Dresden’s oldest settlement areas. The tower’s height and lettering offer a lasting glimpse of industrial Dresden.
