Spicy's Gewürzmuseum
Spicy's Gewürzmuseum occupies 350 square metres in Hamburg’s historic Speicherstadt, where maritime trade shaped the city’s past. Inside, you can touch, smell and taste more than 50 spices and culinary herbs.
More than 900 exhibits trace five centuries of cultivation, harvesting, processing and transport. Tools and methods show how spices travelled, while the displays connect their trade with Hamburg, Speicherstadt and maritime history. The private museum opened in 1991 and moved to its present setting in 1993, with lectures, readings and cooking demonstrations adding live perspectives.
The clearest detail stays close at hand: over 50 spices invite you to explore them with your fingers, nose and palate.
