Pusterla di Sant'Ambrogio
La Pusterla di Sant'Ambrogio se alza en Milán como una antigua puerta menor vinculada a las murallas defensivas medievales. Dos torres enmarcan su entrada de doble arco, conocida como fornice.
Gino Chierici reconstruyó la estructura en 1939, después de que la puerta original quedara en ruinas. La obra utiliza ladrillos recuperados de las antiguas murallas medievales de la ciudad. Tres estatuas de santos completan el conjunto: Ambrogio, Gervasio y Protasio. Un maestro anónimo del siglo XIV creó esas figuras para el cercano Hospital de Sant'Ambrogio.
En 1385, Gian Galeazzo Visconti organizó allí la captura de su tío Bernabò Visconti. La escena conserva una conexión directa entre la arquitectura milanesa y una lucha por el poder.
