Phuket Thai Hua Museum
Phuket Thai Hua Museum stands in Phuket City Municipality, within Phuket’s colourful Old Town. Its Sino-Portuguese building combines large windows, colourful tiles, and Chinese and European decorative details. The vivid façade gives Phuket’s cultural mixture a clear presence along the street.
Inside, exhibits trace Chinese immigration, the tin-mining boom, and the community’s role in Phuket’s growth. Family stories connect that history to businesses and everyday life. Historical photographs, artefacts, traditional clothing, household items, and tools show how residents built lives on the island. Customs, festivals, food, and language reveal Chinese influences within local Thai culture.
The former school appears through photographs of pupils in uniforms, some smiling or playing. The Memory of Phuket Town Festival links the museum with Chinese New Year celebrations of local culture, food, clothing, and beliefs. Music, special shows, and 3D mapping have illuminated the building during those celebrations.
