Pfarrkirche zum heiligen Kreuz stands in Düsseldorf as a post-war church centred on a parabolic, single-nave space. Josef Lehmbrock designed it between 1956 and 1958. Double-shell walls contain concrete and carry flame-shaped artificial-stone slabs designed by art professor Günter Grote.
Those slabs bring an artistic surface to the robust construction. A freestanding bell tower joined the church in 1964, built using a method based on Josef Fröhlich’s Octaplate invention. The building is wheelchair accessible and appears in Düsseldorf’s monument register.
