Lutherkirche
Lutherkirche stands in Wiesbaden, Hesse, as a Protestant church shaped by German Jugendstil architecture. Friedrich Pützer designed it. Built from 1908 to 1910, the church follows the Wiesbadener Programm, placing altar, pulpit and organ at its centre. A 50-metre tower rises above the expansive steel-supported roof.
Above the main entrance, a mosaic shows a cross alongside lines from Martin Luther’s hymn “Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott”. Inside, wood panelling, Jugendstil ornament and stained-glass windows by Otto Linnemann surround the congregation. Three organs and the church’s acoustics also make the interior a setting for concerts by the Bachchor Wiesbaden and the Rheingau Musik Festival. The Walcker organ dates from 1911 and was restored during the 1980s.
