Santwarju Bazilika tal-Madonna tal-Karmnu
In Malta, the Santwarju Bazilika tal-Madonna tal-Karmnu rises as a Carmelite church among the city’s stone streets. Inside, a soaring dome gathers light above the nave. Stone arches and ornate chapels shape the interior, while its dedication to Our Lady of Mount Carmel guides the details. Light and silence give the architecture room to speak.
The Carmelite Order has cared for this church since the sixteenth century, maintaining worship through generations of change. Late in the nineteenth century, it became a minor basilica.
