Friedhof der ehemaligen Landesarmenanstalt Oberer Riedhof lies in Ulm as a cemetery and memorial for former residents of the Landesarmenanstalt. The former state institution once stood here. Restored by the City of Ulm, the grounds preserve memories of people who experienced joyful and difficult times on the Riedhof. Information plaques explain the history of the Riedhof and its cemetery.
The burial ground also commemorates people who died during the Nazi era, connecting local history with lives lost during that period. Konrad Albert Koch rests here as a castle painter and researcher. Historian Eberhard Merk documented the institution’s history and the lives of its residents. A planned natural stone with an information plaque will honour Koch’s life and work.
