Irscher Burg
In Germany, Irscher Burg presents a walled architectural ensemble around a broad courtyard and surrounding moat. Its centre is a late medieval residence with a prominent domestic tower. The tower began in 1587, then changed as the complex served the Abbey of St Martin. Gate arches from the 1760s mark the enclosing walls. Two-storey residential and courthouse wings join several agricultural buildings around the former estate.
Originally an estate and administrative centre for the Abbey of St Martin, the site later hosted baroque justice. The provost exercised secular and spiritual authority here. After secularisation in 1803, the complex became a parish house and community centre. An old tithe barn became the parish church. Its former church tower still stands beside the cemetery, while the lawn hosts village festivals. Since 2011, a local association has worked to preserve the parsonage, barns, tower, and walls.
