Heimatmuseum im Tuchmacherhaus
The Heimatmuseum im Tuchmacherhaus in Thannhausen presents local history and culture inside a historic building. Martin Holzhauser built the house in the year 1805.
The Eberhardt family kept the building until 1984, when it passed to the town of Thannhausen. The local heritage association made it a museum by 1987.
Inside, a craftsman’s room recreates a nineteenth-century living and working space with details from everyday life. Original oil paintings by Dr Wilhelm Bauberger form another collection.
A room dedicated to Christoph von Schmid presents his work as a youth author and clergyman. Biedermeier and Baroque furniture fills this dedicated room.
The changing exhibition space addresses town history, religious history and the textile industry through different themes. Together, these rooms connect Thannhausen with its local past.
