Komödie im Marquardt
Komödie im Marquardt occupies the historic Marquardtbau opposite Schlossplatz in central Stuttgart. Its programme brings contemporary and classical comedies, Swabian-dialect plays, musical productions, and comedy evenings together. The Christmas programme adds a family play to the stage, extending the theatre’s appeal across generations.
A young post-war theatre collective first performed in a commercial vocational school on Rotebühlstraße. After the school reclaimed its rooms, the performers moved into the Golden Hall of the former Marquardt Hotel. The theatre opened there on 1 September 1951 and soon became known beyond Stuttgart. Heinz Erhardt, Conny Froboess, and Harald Juhnke later appeared on its stage.
Elert Bode shaped the theatre’s tradition of witty performances and close contact with audiences. Axel Preuß continues that approach with ensembles featuring Joachim H. Luger, Simone Rethel, and Hartmut Volle. Productions have included Monsieur Claude and His Daughters, alongside children’s entertainment with Tobias Krell. The result is a grounded boulevard theatre where familiar performers and direct audience connection remain central.
