Heilige Familie

Heilige Familie is a Catholic parish church in Stuttgart’s Dürrlewang district, established in 1966 for the local community. Its 55-metre length leads your view towards an altar area rising 11 metres high, with the altar island at the centre, the ambo to the right and the tabernacle to the left.

A large yellow wall behind the altar carries a 2008 relief made from silium, a combination of silicon and aluminium. Twelve stained-glass windows, arranged six on each side aisle, trace salvation history from the entrance towards the altar. Darker Old Testament scenes line the north wall, while brighter New Testament scenes, especially vivid yellow images, fill the south wall where sunlight strengthens their colour.

Under the gallery, a baptismal font stands beside a baptismal window, while the gallery holds a Stehle organ built in Bittelbronn. The central aisle runs from the west portal towards the east and connects the church’s interior with sunrise and new life through faith. Community life also includes the Kinderhaus Heilige Familie, a kindergarten for children aged three to six near Schönbuchschule.
