Église protestante Cronenbourg Cité

The Église protestante Cronenbourg Cité is a modern Protestant church shaped for worship and community life. Architect Frédéric Rexer designed the building for northern Cronenbourg.

It combines a sanctuary, parish rooms, a presbytery, and a modest bell tower within a clear contemporary structure. The church was built between 1966 and 1968. Inside, simple lines leave the altar and a large cross clearly visible. One stained glass window supplies the room’s strongest colour.

Created in 1967 by Pierre Millous of Chartres, the window centres on a large dove. The dove represents the descent of the Holy Spirit. It remains the only figurative element in an otherwise restrained interior, giving the church a vivid focus beside the altar.

Parish rooms support gatherings, children’s activities, and local community life. The open arrangement places functional spaces alongside the worship area. Its contemporary architecture uses crisp lines rather than traditional ornament. The bright glass links modern design with Protestant symbolism through a single recognisable image.
