A World United
A World United stands at Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade in Singapore, among public art and views across Marina Bay. Wheelchair access is available. Its four-metre stainless-steel form brings a strong presence to the waterfront.
Singaporean artist Huang Yifan created the work for the CDL Singapore Sculpture Award, commemorating the inaugural Youth Olympic Games. Signal red and black paint covers its circular structure. Athletes representing twenty-six sports from the 2010 games appear across the sculpture. The circle expresses camaraderie and mutual respect between cultures through sport.
The permanent artwork was unveiled with Breathe through the Marina Bay Public Art Programme. Its proportions remain striking: four metres high and one and a half metres wide.
