Piemineklis 1905. gada cīnītājiem

Piemineklis 1905. gada cīnītājiem stands in Riga beside the Daugava, near the Iron Bridge and the site of a violent demonstration. The memorial recalls people who died, suffered injuries, or drowned during the events of 1905. Its granite pedestal supports two bronze sculptures created by sculptor Alberts Terpilovskis and architect Kārlis Plūksne. A memorial plaque adds information about the demonstration and its victims.

Unveiled in 1960, the monument became part of Riga’s cityscape during the Soviet period. Restoration in the twenty-first century preserved its granite and bronze structure. It reopened to the public on 18 October 2011, Terpilovskis’s birthday. Here, the riverbank and nearby bridge connect the physical surroundings with the violence remembered by the memorial.
