Spielbank Potsdam
Spielbank Potsdam is a casino in Potsdam, Germany, near the historic centre, opposite the Film Museum and within sight of the City Palace. A protected mid-eighteenth-century building gives the gaming rooms their setting.
Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff designed the building for Frederick the Great, using the clear lines of Frederician Rococo. Two floors combine more than eighty gaming machines downstairs with seven table games upstairs, including roulette, poker and blackjack. A bar adds drinks and snacks beside the gaming areas.
The façade brings together hipped roofs, a central risalit, tall ground-floor windows with keystones and simple arched windows above. A profiled cornice and windowless attic complete the view.
