Hôtel dit Séguier
Hôtel dit Séguier stands in Paris’s sixth arrondissement as a private historic mansion. Its severe plan and façade enclose both a courtyard and a garden, while rooms extend in enfilade.
Built between 1640 and 1644, the mansion separated the owners’ living quarters from street-facing rental rooms. A southern wing followed in 1675, extending the arrangement. In 1755, architect Maldent directed a major transformation that raised the main building and reshaped its entrance. Two street-facing pavilions appeared beside the new portal, while the grand staircase gained alterations and an iron railing.
Three first-floor rooms retain mid-eighteenth-century wood panelling. At garden level, a salon preserves over-door decoration from the 1790s to 1800. Communal areas, façades, roofs, and staircases have protection as historic elements. Private ownership limits which spaces you can see.
