Auditorio Guelaguetza
Auditorio Guelaguetza is an open-air auditorium on Fortín Hill above Oaxaca City, with broad views across the city. Its hillside setting brings performances close to the surrounding landscape and gives the venue a distinctive sense of place.
The auditorium is best known for the Guelaguetza festival, held each year in late July. People from different regions of Oaxaca share music, traditional dances and distinctive clothing, accompanied by live performances. Concerts, dance shows, art exhibitions and community gatherings also fill the space throughout the year, linking cultural preservation with public celebration.
Long stairways wind upward from Avenida Crespo and the entrance on Carretera Internacional. That gradual climb leads to a venue built for large audiences, where the open sky remains part of every performance.
