Palais Baréty
Palais Baréty stands in Nice among historic Belle Époque buildings, with rusticated stone façades and a balcony around the fourth floor. Sculpted ox heads support the balcony.
Built in 1897 for physician Alexandre Baréty, the residence was designed by architect Lucien Barbet. Pale chamois-coloured natural cement contrasts with the rough stone and shapes the decorative details. Restoration repaired cracks, chips and weathered surfaces while matching the original materials and textures. The work preserved the building’s distinctive animal motifs.
Protection covers the façades, roof, garden, main staircase and first-floor apartment. The staircase and stairwell extend the architectural interest inside, although private ownership limits access.
