Galerie des Ponchettes
Galerie des Ponchettes is a municipal art gallery in Nice, set within a pedestrian-friendly area and accessible to wheelchair users. Opened in 1954 at Henri Matisse’s request, it has given the city a dedicated space for modern and contemporary art.
Since 2009, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Nice manages its programme, presenting temporary solo, group and thematic exhibitions. Displays support emerging French and international artists, while painting, drawing, lithography and installation have all appeared here alongside established figures such as Pablo Picasso and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
A 1960 exhibition focused on Picasso’s graphic work, while a 1954 show featured a lithographic poster after Toulouse-Lautrec.
