Orlando-Haus
Orlando-Haus stands at Platzl 4/4a in Munich’s old town, forming a five-storey corner building in German Renaissance style. Max Littmann designed it in 1900, with Heilmann & Littmann serving as general contractors. Rich ornament covers the ground floor, while the building extends towards Falkenturmstraße 12.
Restaurants, other gastronomic establishments, and offices occupy the ground floor and basement, keeping the interior connected to daily city life. An open staircase and an arcade shape the movement through the building. Orlando di Lasso’s former residence once stood on this site, giving the architecture a direct connection to Munich’s musical history.
Bavaria protects the building as a listed monument, recognising its architectural and historical significance. Its most striking detail remains the richly decorated ground floor, which meets the busy Platzl with Renaissance ornament.
