Parco della Vettabbia

Parco della Vettabbia is a large public park in southern Milan, around Municipio Five and the Via Ripamonti area. The Naviglio Vettabbia canal runs through the park. It forms part of Parco Agricolo Sud Milano, with tree-lined paths and varied plant life creating a green urban setting. Birds and foxes live among this dense greenery. You will also find cycling paths, a fitness trail, and play areas for children. Ash, oak, and elm trees rise above dogwood and elderberry shrubs.

Monks from Chiaravalle Abbey cultivated this area during the twelfth century, when it belonged to the Valle dei Monaci. An old mill still stands here, converted into homes. The park’s design, completed between 2005 and 2015, recreated a rural landscape and focused on regenerating water. Cascina Grande keeps agricultural work present here. It hosts dressage and summer camps for children, adding working countryside to Milan’s southern edge.
