Chiesa Evangelica Valdese
Chiesa Evangelica Valdese stands on Via Francesco Sforza in Milan’s historic centre, linking Waldensian worship with the city’s architectural past. Its Neo-Romanesque façade came from San Giovanni in Conca.
Twelfth-century red brick and white stone frame marble details, while the entrance mosaic shows a lit candle resting on a Bible. The Latin motto reads “Lux lucet in tenebris”. A rose window and blind lancet windows complete the façade above and beside the entrance.
Inside, a single nave beneath a double-pitched ceiling uses pointed arches and tall rectangular windows to lead the eye towards the apse. A luminous cross and wooden pulpit mark that space. An electropneumatic pipe organ, built by Balbiani-Vegezzi Bossi in the early 1950s, stands inside a wooden case. Its pipes form symmetrical cusps. The church also supports Waldensian religious education and community service in Milan.
