Hyllie kyrka
Hyllie kyrka stands in Sweden within a former enclosed farmyard, where low roofs and sheltered spaces shape the view. Stone and timber gather around a courtyard rather than a grand central nave.
The church reopened on 8 December 1985, while traces of worship here reach back to the twelfth century. An original baptismal font returned from the regional historical museum after nearly a century. Morning masses, evening services and occasional gospel gatherings bring voices and music close to the congregation. Parish offices, meeting rooms, a preschool and after-school activities share this community hub. Volunteers offer coffee, conversation and support through its diaconal work.
Wooden floors, votive candles and children’s voices connect worship with ordinary daily life inside the farmstead. Simple newer materials meet older stone without ornate display, giving the courtyard a practical warmth. The baptismal font provides a tangible link between present ceremonies and the site’s medieval past.
