Kommandantenhaus
Kommandantenhaus stands inside Petersberg Citadel in Erfurt as an exhibition and visitor centre focused on the site’s history. Interactive displays combine multimedia installations, sounds, infographics, and models to make the citadel’s past tangible. You move through the monastic period, fortress history, soldiers’ lives, and the citadel’s use during the DDR era.
A question-filled rally adds a playful route through those historical themes. Models and infographics connect the citadel’s changing roles with the people who lived and worked there. Elevators and ramps support access, while lockers, rest areas, and a souvenir shop provide practical comforts. Photography is permitted, and guided tours accommodate visitors with different needs.
