egapark Erfurt
egapark Erfurt is a 36-hectare garden and leisure park in Erfurt, spread across the 265-metre Cyriaksberg. Paths connect themed gardens, plant showhouses, exhibition halls and quieter spaces for relaxation. A viewing tower and observatory add elevated perspectives across this carefully planned landscape.
The grounds began as a city fortress before becoming a public green space in 1885. Expansion followed, and the park later hosted the International Horticultural Exhibition, the largest event of its kind in former East Germany. Its design reflects the garden architecture of the 1960s and has held monument protection since 1992. Reinhold Lingner shaped the landscape as one of his major works.
Europe’s largest contiguous flower bed gives the gardens their boldest visual feature. The grounds also contain Thuringia’s largest playground and Germany’s only horticultural museum. Together, these details connect Erfurt’s “Flower City” tradition with a place designed for plants, exhibitions and leisure.
