Gezira Youth Club Tea Garden
Gezira Youth Club Tea Garden sits in Cairo’s island district, within the historic Gezira Sporting Club beside the Nile. Open lawns, mature trees, tennis balls and playground laughter create a calm setting for families and young athletes.
The sporting club began in the late nineteenth century on land once belonging to the Khedivial Botanical Gardens. A British club, it combined a racecourse and golf course as a colonial leisure ground along the Nile. Nationalisation in the early 1950s gradually opened the grounds, while part of the golf course became the youth club. The tea garden once served officers and guests, but now brings families, students and sports enthusiasts into shared space.
Fields, courts and tracks give the grounds an active character beneath the shade of old trees. From the garden, the Nile offers a lasting view of Cairo’s continuity and change.
