Liqeni i Bovillës
Liqeni i Bovillës is a reservoir in Albania, set within Dajti Mountain National Park and shaped by the Tërkuzë River. Its water helps supply Tirana with drinking water.
Steep cliffs and canyon walls surround the water, linking the landscape to Shkallë e Bovillës canyon. The Tërkuzë River crosses Shkallë e Bovillës canyon.
Mountains including Maja e Gomtitit and Mali i Bjeshit frame the reservoir’s setting. Nearby villages rely mainly on agriculture for their livelihoods.
The dam uses conglomerate, gravel, and sand, connecting local engineering with the valley’s reshaped landscape. Some reservoir water also supports local irrigation.
The protected setting includes reforestation and wastewater measures that address erosion and safeguard the reservoir’s water quality. Climbers are drawn to the canyon walls.
Fish recorded in the reservoir include Schneider, Barbus carp, grass carp, and silver carp, with silver carp introduced to improve water quality. Swimming in the Liqeni i Bovillës reservoir is not allowed.
