Magyar Autóklub
Magyar Autóklub stands in Hungary as an office headquarters with a sweeping profile shaped like a printed lowercase “a”. That letter links the building’s form with Autóklub and the automobile. Ybl Prize-winning Hungarian architects István Lukács and András Vikár designed the headquarters together in 2007. Their plan uses geothermal energy for heating and produces zero carbon emissions during operation. Office levels rise above the ground floor and finish with a roof terrace.
A broad metallic band begins beside the building and wraps its facade without seams or windows. The strip continues over the parking area, where it becomes a roof. Triple-glazed glass covers the other sides and brings daylight into the offices. The building serves the club’s staff and administration. Look closely at the facade: one metal line turns an office function into a recognisable sign.
