Fotomuseum Antwerpen

Fotomuseum Antwerpen, also known as FOMU, presents historical and contemporary photography in Antwerp, Belgium. Its galleries focus on photography from Belgium and around the world.

Opened in 1986, the museum changes its collection presentation each year and stages temporary exhibitions. New displays return across the museum’s changing exhibition programme. The collection includes photographs, photographic equipment and books, while the library and archive support deeper research. The library and archive add context for photography research.

FOMU preserves photographic heritage and supports established photographers alongside emerging image makers. Emerging photographic voices receive space within its exhibitions. Exhibitions address identity, gender and photography’s changing forms through individual and group presentations. Anton Corbijn appears among the photographers featured in its retrospectives.

Publications include the Dutch-language .tiff magazine and the English-language magazine Trigger, covering photography and visual culture. Guided tours and educational programmes accompany the displays. Modern galleries, a museum shop and wheelchair access shape the visitor experience. Families can use audio tours while exploring the museum.
